Thanks for checking out mastering with Lij Shaw at The Toy Box Studio. My approach to mastering is to treat it like an extension of the mixing process. So I treat the group of songs as a whole matching level and eq, and look for ways to generally make the mixes sound as exciting as they can be.

Sometimes a mix is already right where it needs to be, and the best approach is to make sure the rest of the mixes match up and sound great! Whatever the situation with your mixes I like to follow my instinct and help make sure your sound is powerful or gentle respecting the dynamic of your record.

I generally work on a couple of songs an hour. The first song often takes the longest. This allows for addressing whatever the record needs, and making sure I can bring out the best in your record. I look forward to mastering your record!
