I met Dave Coleman years ago when I was visiting a friend. Dave was his roommate and could be heard  down the hall learning guitar licks to Johnny Cash songs. I remember immediately thinking “Man that guy sounds great! What a classic guitar tone.” Over the years I got to know Dave and his band The Coal Men through many great records recorded both with the amazing Brian Carter at Paradox Productions and with me at The Toy Box Studio. Dave is a brilliant song writer, guitar player, and producer. It has been and honor to make many records with him, most recently the wonderful sounding Escalator, Presented by Todd Snider’s Aimless records. For Stereo Sessions 7 Dave joins us with Dave Ray on drums, and Paul Slivka on bass.

I met Nick Bullock this year as he moved to Nashville TN from Ithaca NY. He  was introduced to me by my cousin Jenny Lowe Stearns also a brilliant singer and song writer from Ithaca. Nick is an instantly likable guy with an attitude that makes you feel like everything is gonna be ok in the world of music. I interviewed him for the soon to be released The Toy Box Studio Show podcast where he talked about the importance of writing every morning, meditiation, eating well, and  the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Sara Jean Kelley and I recently finished mixing her newest record The Waiting Place. A beautiful collection of tunes with great players like Dave Coleman and others. She had just had the release party and has been getting lots of airplay on local radio Lightning 100 WRLT as artist of the week. And so we thought it a great idea to have her play Stereo Sessions and join us for a fantastic night of talent and music. Sara sings and plays with Ryan Tullock on slide guitar.
